To tackle Delhi’s soaring air pollution and heat, the Delhi government has planned to induce artificial rain in August through a technique called Cloud Seeding. This initiative involves collaboration between IIT Kanpur, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), and aviation authorities. The government has signed contracts for this project, which is estimated to cost around ₹3.2 crore.

From July to August: Adjusting to the Monsoon
Originally, artificial rain was scheduled between July 4 and July 11 in parts of Delhi, when heat and pollution levels peaked. However, due to the early arrival of the monsoon, the project has now been postponed to the end of August.
An Experimental Project with Local Impact
If you reside in Delhi, especially in North Delhi, you might get to experience this experimental rainfall as part of the project. It aims to help reduce pollution and provide relief from the heat in targeted areas.
